Core Texts for Membership exam (Feline Medicine)

August JR, editor. Consultations in feline internal medicine. 5th and 6th edns. Elsevier Saunders, St Louis 2006 and 2010 respectively.
Chandler EA, Gaskell CJ & Gaskell RM, editors. Feline medicine and therapeutics. 3rd edn. Blackwell Publishing, Oxford, 2004.
Sherding RG, editor. The cat — diseases and clinical management. Vols 1–2. 2nd edn. Churchill Livingstone, New York, 1994.

The cat — diseases and clinical management. Vols 1–2, 2nd edn, is a core text despite its age because no other comprehensive feline medicine text has been published since. Candidates must be aware that some of this material is now outdated and use up-to-date texts such as Consultations in feline medicine and other small animal texts in order to differentiate outdated material (eg drugs, treatments, microbe nomenclature etc) from unchanged data (eg haematology assessment, feline nutrition).

[ACVSc] Membership Examination

Candidates for Membership of the College should be eligible for registration as a veterinarian in an Australian State or in New Zealand. Council may at its discretion approve a candidate who has veterinary qualifications recognised as being equivalent to Australasian qualifications.

Candidates must have spent at least four years in a full-time veterinary activity between graduation and taking the examination. An exception may be made at the discretion of, and after application to, the Chief Examiner. However, no candidate may attempt the examination sooner than 3½ years after graduating.

Candidates who have not had the opportunity of working intensively in a limited field of activity and in a situation where an opportunity for learning from other veterinarians is available would well be advised to prolong their preparation period to six or even eight years.

Applicants will be assessed on their knowledge and skills at the Membership examination. Performance in the Membership examination is assessed on the basis that the candidate shall achieve a pass mark of 70% or above as detailed in section 10.5 and 10.6.

Although Membership of the College indicates that the member has some expertise and competence in the nominated area, it is important to note that Fellowship is the College qualification that signifies the standard required by those seeking veterinary specialist registration.

Hill’s m/d vs Orijen

Hill’s m/d

Protein 52.8%
Fat 19.4%
Carbohydrate (NFE) 15.7%
Crude Fiber 6.0%

3960 kcal/kg (480.3 kcal/per cup)

Orijen

Protein 45.0%
Fat 20.0%
Carbohydrate (NFE) 15.0%
Crude Fiber 2.0%

4700 kcal/kg (518.4 kcal/per cup) ←好高!

考慮到原料問題,我決定用Orijen賭一賭了…不足的纖維用貓草補 !!!!
這是個失敗就會胖到無法挽回的減肥計畫,但如果成功以後就換我的荷包無法挽回了。

你可以再胖一點

ORGANIX (Adult indoor feline): 390.3 kcal/cup
ACANA (chicken + fish): 465.6 kcal/cup

飼料混合比例約1:1,熱量約等於428 kcal/cup

豆乾
5.5kg,
DER = RER x 0.8 = 200 kcal/day
0.46 cup/day (3/8和1/2 cup刻度中間)

蛋花
3.2kg,
DER = RER x 1.0 = 167 kcal/day
0.39 cup/day (3/8 cup)

煩死了……

[NOTE] Reverse sneezing

Reverse sneezing (also called backwards sneezing) or inspiratory paroxysmal respiration is a phenomenon observed in dogs, particularly in those with brachycephalic skulls. Its exact cause is unknown but may be due to nasal, pharyngeal, or sinus irritation (such as an allergy), the dog’s attempt to remove mucus, or from over-excitement due to present activity. It is characterized by rapid and repeated forced inhalation through the nose, accompanied by snorting or gagging sounds. Though it may be distressing to the animal, it is not known to be harmful. Most dogs are completely normal before and after episodes. In addition, most dogs will have repeat episodes of reverse sneezing throughout their lives.

Reverse sneezing also commonly occurs while the dog is asleep or immediately following a long nap. Other dogs may experience it following play, exercise, or meals. However, episodes are typically random. Though smaller dogs seem slightly more susceptible to reverse sneezing, any dog can develop it, regardless of size.

Differential diagnoses include tracheal collapse.
